As a lover of nature he believed that every creature was a word from God. And each one tells us something about God and ourselves. We celebrate the feast of St. Francis on October 4 and here at St. Francis of Assisi we mark the occasion with a Parish Festival.                                                             Prayer of St. Francis Lord make me an instrument of Your Peace Where there is hatred...let me sow love. Where there is injury...pardon. Where there is discord...unity. Where there is doubt...faith. Where there is error...truth. Where there is despair...hope. Where there is sadness...joy. Where there is darkness...light. O Divine Master grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console To be understood as understand. To be loved as to love for it is in giving that we receive It is in pardoning that we are pardoned. It is in dying...that we are born to eternal life. Amen. Prayer to St. Francis Most loveable and popular Saint, son of a go-getting and wealthy merchant of Assisi, you discarded earthly possesions for the Savior you loved so dearly and you won innumerable persons for Jesus. Inspire us with the love of Christ for others and with the desire for things that endure. Amen. Blessing of Animals: Blessed are you, Lord, maker of all living creatures. On the 5th & 6th days of creation, You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all animals his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this animal. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation.
